No. 16 Pace Women's Lacrosse Holds Off Saint Michael's, 10-7

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 16 Pace University women's lacrosse team defeated Saint Michael's on Saturday, 10-7. With the win, the Blue and Gold improve to 5-6 overall and 3-4 against the Northeast-10 Conference.

Juliana Marcolini (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) continued her recent offensive hot streak, leading the Setters with three goals on the day. The senior attacker has now scored 12 goals over Pace's last four games. Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) (2 G, 1 A) and Isabella Piccola (Huntington, NY/Huntington) (1 G, 2 A) matched Marcolini's team-high three points on the day.

Emma Norton (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) also had a multi-goal game, finding the back of the net twice. Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster) and Courtney Sulfaro (Shirley, NY/William Floyd) accounted for Pace's other two goals, while Johnna Leone (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) added a pair of assists.

In net, freshman goalkeeper Sienna Masullo (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai School District) posted a season-high 12 saves. The seven goals allowed also tied a season-best for the rookie.

Pace had three separate advantages across the opening 20 minutes, but the Setters could never extend their leads past one as the Purple Knights responded with goals of their own. It wasn't until the 6:37 mark when Pace was finally able to piece together back-to-back scores, as Rafferty followed up Marcolini's first tally of the game to put Pace up 5-3.

The Purple Knights recorded a goal with under five minutes to play in the opening half to cut the lead back down to one, but Marcolini and Sulfaro scored before the end of the half to send Pace into the locker room up 7-4.

The Setters began the second half with the only two scores in the first 26 minutes to go ahead by five. Despite Saint Michael's scoring three of the game's final four goals in the closing four minutes, the Setters closed out the win in front of the home crowd at Pace Stadium.
