SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In their final game of the regular season, the Pace University softball team posted a 9-1 win at American International College on Sunday morning. The Setters (21-19, 12-13) will now enter the NE10 Championship Tournament as winners of 12 of their last 13 games.
An 8:30 a.m. start didn't deter the Setters as they racked up 13 hits while scoring in five different innings, including a four-run seventh.
In the circle, sophomore Mackenzie Garrick put together one of the best pitching efforts of her young career. The right-hander allowed just the one run across seven innings of work, while striking out eight.
Offensively, the Blue and Gold had three different players finish with three hits. Senior Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) reached base in all of her four of her plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
In three games versus AIC, Carberry went 8-for-10 with seven RBIs and seven runs scored.
Niyah Brown (Chino, CA/Chino Hills) and Aby Brambila (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park) also put forth terrific stat lines on Sunday, combining to go 6-for-8 with four RBIs.
