SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Led by an offensive output that featured 17 runs and 23 hits, the Pace University softball team earned a doubleheader sweep (7-1, 10-3) at American International College on Saturday. The Setters, who have now won 11 of their last 12 games, move to 20-19 overall this season.
The trio of
Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek),
Lindsey Ah Soon (Ewa Beach, HI/Kamehameha Kapalama) and
Arielle Acosta (Union City, CA/Moreau Catholic High School) led the offensive onslaught against the Yellow Jackets.
Carberry put together a 5-for-7 afternoon with five RBIs and five runs scored. The senior currently leads Pace in batting (.369), RBIs (33) and slugging (.577) this season.
Acosta chipped in five hits of her own, while scoring four runs and walking once. Ah Soon went 4-for-6 in the two games, with two runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.
In the circle, the Blue and Gold received solid outings from both
Kate Dolinski (Fort Langley, B.C./Yale Secondary) and
Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker).
Dolinski began the day by allowing just three earned runs in a complete-game victory. She finished with four strikeouts across seven frames of work.
Bernet followed by also going the distance in the second contest, allowing just one run and striking out six. Bernet is now 6-1 in her last seven starts this season.
