PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The 16
th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team was defeated by the University of New Haven on Tuesday night by a score of 13-9.
Tied 4-4 at the 5:21 mark of the first half, a 5-1 run from New Haven proved to be a large factor in the contest on Tuesday night.
The Chargers would then put together another 4-1 spurt later in the second half to achieve their largest lead of the game at 13-6 with 13:48 left in regulation.
Sophomores
Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) and
Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) led the way for Pace with multi-goal efforts. Rafferty put in a team-high three tallies while Mucci registered three points on two goals and an assist.
Four other Setters found the back of the net for the Blue and Gold in the form of
Juliana Marcolini (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley),
Johnna Leone (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale),
Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster), and
Amanda Dickerson (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead).
Marcolini and Leone also chipped in assists to combine for four points.
Defensively,
Alexandra Maitland-Ward (Hampton Bays, NY/Hampton Bays) finished the game with a team-high four caused turnovers while Lonegan tallied three of her own.
