PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Facing a third straight NE10 Divisional foe, the Pace University baseball team was defeated by Adelphi on Tuesday by a score of 3-0. The loss moves the Setters to 21-12 overall, and 10-8 in conference action.
The Panthers' used a dominant start from starting pitcher Ed Baram, along with three runs in the middle innings, to nab the mid-week victory. Baram tossed eight shutout innings to move to 6-0 on the mound this season.
The Setters had a couple of solid pitching efforts of their own. Starter Lorenzo Russo (East Northport, NY/Commack) allowed just two earned runs, while striking out six, across 5.1 innings.
Freshman Michael Roll (Ramsey, NJ/Bergen Catholic High School) came on in relief, yielding just a pair of hits in three scoreless innings.
The Blue and Gold managed just four hits of offense with Michael Barbato (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee), Dean DePreta (Stamford, CT/Westhill High School), Brian Bohlander (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland), and Justin Scotto (Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth Regional High School) each registering singles.
