Pace Baseball Defeated in Series Finale at Saint Rose

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In the finale of a three-game series at Saint Rose, the Pace University baseball team was defeated by the Golden Knights, 9-3, on Sunday. The Setters, who swept the doubleheader yesterday, move to 21-11 this season (10-7 in the NE10).

After taking a 4-1 lead in the fifth inning, Saint Rose broke the game open with a five-run seventh.

The Setters' offense racked up 15 hits in the contest—their third highest total of the season—but were only able to muster the three runs.

Pace left 11 runners on base in the game, including at least one in eight of the nine innings.

Senior Alex Pia (Guilford, CT/Xavier) put together a career day at the dish, going 4-for-5 with an RBI. Dean DePreta (Stamford, CT/Westhill High School) also tallied a strong day at the dish with a 3-for-5 effort.

Seven other Setters registered hits in the game, including a pair off the bat of freshman Justin Scotto (Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth Regional High School).
