CARY, N.C. – On day two of their weekend trip to Cary, N.C. the Pace University baseball team split a pair of games on Saturday. The Setters defeated Clarion University in the first contest of the day (9-1) before falling to East Stroudsburg University (12-6) in the finale.
Senior
Dan Wirchansky (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland/RCC) earned the victory on the mound in game No. 1, allowing just one run across seven innings of work. Wirchansky, who led the nation in ERA in 2018, has a mark of 1.38 in 13.0 frames this season.
Offensively,
Michael Salmonese (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) and
Luke Jacobi (Edison, NJ/JP Stevens) each racked up six hits across the two games. The duo also combined for seven RBIs and five runs scored.
Michael Barbato (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee) put together a nice day at the plate against East Stroudsburg, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two walks.
Felix Camacho (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond's High School for Boys / Westchester Community College) and
Noah Clement (Voorhees, NJ/Roman Catholic High School) each tallied a pair of hits, and recorded an RBI in the second game of the day.
