Cary, N.C. – In the final contest of their weekend at the USA Baseball National Training Complex, the Pace University baseball team earned a 12-9 win over Jefferson University on Sunday. The victory improves the Setters to 4-1 on the early season.

Tied 7-7 after seven innings, the Setters registered five runs across the final two frames to earn the victory. Junior Lorenzo Russo (East Northport, NY/Commack) posted his second save of the season, recording a strikeout for the final out in the ninth with the bases loaded.

Freshman Michael Roll (Ramsey, NJ/Bergen Catholic High School) served as the victorious pitcher after allowing just one earned run in 3.1 innings out of the bullpen.

The Setters racked up 19 hits in the contest, led by five more knocks from senior Michael Salmonese (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick). Salmonese finished the weekend in Cary a remarkable 12-for-20 (.600) at the plate with six runs scored and five RBIs.
