No. 14 Women's Lacrosse Drops Tight Contest at No. 6 LIU Post, 11-9

Brookville, N.Y. – Going on the road for the first time this year, the 14th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team was defeated at No.6 LIU Post, 11-9. The loss evens the Setters' record at 1-1 in the early season.

With the score tied at 6-6 with 20:45 remaining in the second half, a 5-0 run from the Pioneers proved to be the difference in the contest. The Setters answered back with a 3-0 stretch of their own, but ultimately fell two goals short of completing the comeback.

It was a game of runs all afternoon as LIU Post jumped out to leads of 3-0 and 4-1 in the first half before Pace roared back to even the score at 4-4, and take a 5-4 edge into halftime.

The Setters had seven different players score goals in the contest, including two each from senior Juliana Marcolini (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) and sophomore Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas).

Freshman Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) and sophomore Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) also finished with multiple points on the day, combining for two goals and three assists. Corretjer chipped in a game-high six draw controls as well.

Pace and LIU Post each finished with 10 draw controls in the game, while the Setters nabbed a 23-22 edge in shots on goal.

Freshman Sienna Masullo (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai School District) played the full 60 minutes in net for Pace, finishing with 11 saves, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
