Pace Baseball Tallies 10-6 Triumph Over Le Moyne

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sparked by five different scoring innings, the Pace University baseball team put together a 10-6 win over Le Moyne on Sunday afternoon. The victory puts the Setters at 14-8 overall this season, and 3-1 against NE10 Southwest opponents.

Trailing 6-5 after just three innings, the Setters put the clamps down across the final six frames. Pace took the lead with runs in the fourth and fifth before tacking on three more in the seventh.

Freshman pitcher Michael Roll (Ramsey, NJ/Bergen Catholic High School) earned the win after posting five scoreless innings out of the bullpen. The rookie scattered just three hits, while tallying four strikeouts.

The Setter bats helped Roll with 10 hits and 10 walks in the contest, posting their second-highest run total of the season.

Seven different players registered knocks for the Blue and Gold, led multi-hit efforts from Michael Barbato (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee), Alex Pia (Guilford, CT/Xavier) and Matt Bass (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville). The trio combined to go 6-for-12 with five runs scored and three RBIs.

Senior Michael Salmonese (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) also impressed at the dish, finishing 1-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored.
