Game Recap: Softball |

Pace Softball Defeated Twice at Le Moyne

Syracuse, N.Y. – Capping off a three-game series in Syracuse, the Pace University softball team was swept by Le Moyne College in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Game One Recap – Le Moyne 10, Pace 5
Trailing 5-2 after five, the Dolphins put together an eight-run sixth inning to take Game One. Le Moyne's rally was sparked by seven consecutive two-out hits.

Pace's top of the order led the way offensively in the opener. The Setters' first four batters—Arielle Acosta (Union City, CA/Moreau Catholic High School), Emma Carruth (Torrance, CA/Beverly Hills), Jillian Gartner (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito Academy), and Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, OR/Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School)—each tallied two hits apiece, and combined for four runs scored.

Pace's fifth hitter, Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek), posted a team-best three RBIs. She finished the day 1-for-3 with a walk.

Game Two Recap – Le Moyne 5, Pace 4 (Nine Inn.)
After Pace scored a go-ahead run in the top half of the ninth, Le Moyne put two on the board to walk off to victory.

Gartner provided the Setters' with a 4-3 edge in extras with an RBI single to center. Senior Alexandra Cusumano (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph By The Sea) scored on the play after leading off the frame with a single.

Like Game One, Pace also held a lead in the day's finale. The Setters notched three runs in the top of the first inning. Carberry walked with the bases loaded while Briana Ryan (Wilmington, CA/Carson) and Niyah Brown (Chino, CA/Chino Hills) both singled in runs.

Freshman pitcher Kate Dolinski (Fort Langley, B.C./Yale Secondary) was dealt the loss after tossing the complete 8.2 in the circle.
