SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A quick start and a dominant second half helped the 15
th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team to a 15-7 win at AIC on Friday afternoon. The victory moves the Setters' overall record to 4-5 this season, and 2-3 in the NE10.
The Setters jumped out of the gates with a 5-2 start less than 10 minutes into the game. They would then go on to score the final two goals of the first half (9-5 lead at the break) before starting the second half on a 6-1 run.
Seniors
Juliana Marcolini (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) and
Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster) each put together four-goal efforts, while sophomore
Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) dished out four assists. Rafferty also found the back of the net twice to finish with a team-high six points.
Isabella Piccola (Huntington, NY/Huntington) served as Pace's other multi-goal scorer with a pair of tallies in the game.
Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas),
Amanda Dickerson (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) and
Johnna Leone (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) also found the back of the cage for the Setters. Mucci chipped in a pair of assists as well.
Freshman
Sienna Masullo (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai School District) played the full 60 minutes in net, making six saves in her fourth win of the season.
As a team, the Blue and Gold put together advantages of 21-13 in shots on goal and 23-14 in ground balls.
