PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Beginning a stretch of five games in three days, the Pace University softball team dropped a pair of contests to Adelphi on Thursday afternoon.
Game One – Adelphi 7, Pace 6
Trailing 7-2 after four, the Setters nearly came all the way back courtesy of a four-run fifth inning. Pace would go on to have someone thrown out at home to end the sixth before leaving the game-tying runner on third with one out in the seventh.
Seniors
Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) and
Aby Brambila (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park) knocked in all six of Pace's runs in the first contest. Carberry reached on all four of her plate attempts, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a walk.
Brambila notched the biggest hit of the day, hammering a bases-clearing double in the fifth to cut the Adelphi lead to 7-6.
Fellow senior
Emma Carruth (Torrance, CA/Beverly Hills) joined in with a stellar Game One of her own. The second basemen put together a 3-for-4 effort with a pair of runs scored.
MacKenzie Garrick (South River, NJ/South River) pitched well in relief for the Blue and Gold, tossing four innings without allowing an earned run.
Game Two – Adelphi 7, Pace 2 (Final in five innings due to darkness)
Adelphi jumped put out to another lead in the second contest courtesy of a three-run home run in the top of the first inning.
Pace's bats, which racked up 11 hits in the first game, only mustered five in the finale. Senior
Lindsey Ah Soon (Ewa Beach, HI/Kamehameha Kapalama) posted two of those knocks, while Carruth tallied the Setters' lone RBI of Game Two.
Up Next
