Pace Softball Sweeps Doubleheader at Queens

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Beginning a stretch of eight games in five days, the Pace University softball team put together a doubleheader sweep of Queens College on Wednesday. The Setters (3-3) tallied a 10-0 run-rule win in Game One before posting a 5-2 triumph in the finale.

After a resounding victory in the opener, the Blue and Gold broke open a 2-2 game with three runs in the seventh inning of Game Two.

Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, OR/Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School) led the Pace offense across the two triumphs, compiling a 4-for-7 day with five RBIs. Following a 3-for-3 effort in the opener, she knocked in a pair with a double in the final inning of the second game.

In addition to Iverson, Pace had a litany of top performers on Wednesday. Classmate Raechelle Seil (Port Orchard, WA/South Kitsap High School) went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in Game Two, while sophomore Niyah Brown (Chino, CA/Chino Hills) registered a 2-for-3, two-run first contest.

Sophomore Briana Ryan (Wilmington, CA/Carson) hammered a two-run double in the fifth inning of Game One before going 2-for-3 with a run scored in the finale.

On the other side of the ball, Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker) and Kate Dolinski (Fort Langley, B.C./Yale Secondary) recorded wins in the circle.

Bernet struck out eight across five shutout innings to earn her first victory of the season. Dolinski followed with a complete game of her own in Game Two, striking out seven en route to improving to 2-0 on the year.
