NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Facing their fourth straight road opponent, the 12
th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team put together a 19-8 win over Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday. The win improves the Blue and Gold to 3-2 this season, including a 1-1 mark inside the NE10.
The Setters' victory, which was their fifth straight over the Owls, was earned courtesy of a pair of big runs. Trailing 3-2 at the 20:02 mark, Pace ended the first half with an 8-2 stretch to take a 10-5 lead into halftime
Up five at the break, the Setters rattled off another 5-0 stretch to open the game wide open at the 23:02 mark of the second half.
Seven different players for Pace tallied multiple goals in the game, while 12 different Setters posted at least one point.
Sophomore
Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) piloted the attack with a team-high five points (3g, 2a), while
Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) provided four of her own off two goals and two assists.
Freshman
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) joined Rafferty with a hat trick, while
Isabella Piccola (Huntington, NY/Huntington),
Juliana Marcolini (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley),
Emma Norton (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale), and
Courtney Sulfaro (Shirley, NY/William Floyd) all had two goals apiece.
Freshman
Sienna Masullo (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai School District), who played the complete game in net, made four saves to move to 3-2 this season.
As a team, the Setters earned a 30-12 advantage in shots-on-goal while finishing 20-8 in draw controls.
