Pace Softball Falls Twice at West Chester University

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Competing in their second road doubleheader in as many days, the Pace University softball team (1-3) dropped a pair of contests at West Chester University on Monday.

Game One – West Chester 10, Pace 8
Following a five-run fourth from West Chester, the Setters battled back from an 8-1 deficit to tie the game in the sixth inning. Pace scored four runs in the fifth before tacking on three more in the sixth.

The Golden Rams would go on to put two more across in the sixth before closing the door in the seventh.

A pair of freshmen served as the catalysts in Pace's comeback. NancyAnn Revilla (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) doubled home Aby Brambila (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park) to cap off the four-run fifth, while Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, OR/Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School) hammered a three-run home run in the sixth to tie the game up at 8-8.

Nine different players recorded hits for Pace in the first game of the day. Sophomore Niyah Brown (Chino, CA/Chino Hills) led the Setters with a 2-for-4 day and two runs scored.

Game Two – West Chester 6, Pace 5 (8 innings)
The Blue and Gold once again put together a comeback in the second contest. Trailing by one in the seventh, freshman Arielle Acosta (Union City, CA/Moreau Catholic High School) singled home senior Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) to tie the game at 5-5. Carberry led off the frame with a double to left.

The Golden Rams would go on to walk-off with the win in the eighth inning courtesy of a sacrifice fly with one out.

The Setters once again enjoyed a balanced attack in Game Two. Six different players totaled Pace's seven hits. Junior Emma Carruth (Torrance, CA/Beverly Hills) and Brown joined Acosta with RBIs in the contest.
