Pace Women's Basketball Falls at SCSU in Overtime, 82-78

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Despite erasing an 11-point halftime deficit to force overtime, the Pace University women's basketball team was defeated at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, 82-78.

Inside the Numbers
*Sophomore Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) poured in a career-high 27 points to lead the Pace offense. She finished the afternoon 8-of-17 from the floor, and 11-of-12 from the free-throw line.

*Two other Setters joined Schetter in double figures in Brianna Wong (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) and Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack). Wong put together a 15-point, four-steal afternoon while DelliSanti added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

*Freshman Lauren Hackett (Commack, NY/St. Anthony's) led Pace with four assists, while she and Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) combined for 15 points.

*Speaking of Monteleone, her basket with two seconds on the clock sent the game into overtime.

*After going 0-4 from long range in the first half, the Setters knocked in 5-for-6 after halftime. Pace finished the game 16-of-21 from the free-throw line.

How it Happened
A 24-15 second quarter from SCSU sent the owls into the break with an 11-point lead, which would eventually grow to 13 early on in the third quarter.

A 10-3 run from Pace in the fourth quarter cut the lead to just one at the midway point. The Setters would cut it to just a single point once again with 55 seconds left.

Pace trailed across the final 25:55 of regulation before Monteleone tied the game up with just two ticks on the clock.

The Setters would take their first lead since the first quarter in the beginning stages of extra time. A three-pointer from Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) gave Pace a 74-73 advantage. Schetter would then add an old-fashioned three-point play to push the lead to lead to four points.

The Owls would respond to the deficit with a 9-1 game-ending run, which featured a 7-for-7 effort from the free-throw line.

Up Next
The Setters wrap up the regular season with a road trip to the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday night. Pace and the Golden Knights will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
