Dominant Second Quarter Leads Women's Basketball to Win at Saint Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. – Sparked by a 24-4 run in the first half, the Pace University women's basketball team closed out its year with a 73-67 win at the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday night.

Inside the Numbers
*Sophomore Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) tallied her third-straight 20-point performance, finishing the game with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. She also led Pace with five assists, to go along with seven rebounds, a steal, and a block.

*Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) also shined offensively with 18 points, while Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) chipped in 10 of her own. DelliSanti served as Pace's top rebounder, nabbing nine of them.

*The Setters were highly efficient on offense, making more than half of their shots from the field (29-of-57). Pace also put together a 9-of-10 effort from the free-throw line, while going 6-for-12 from deep.

*Up by 12 at half, the Setters shot nearly 60 percent (16-for-28) from the field across the third and fourth quarters.

How it Happened
Following a high-scoring first quarter that saw Saint Rose take a three-point lead, the Setters took control of the game with a dominant second.

After scoring the final five points of the first, Pace put together a 19-4 stretch before halftime. The Setters turned an eight-point deficit at the 1:37 mark of the first into a 12-point lead at the break.

The Setters and Golden Knights would go on to play an even 20-20 third quarter, allowing Pace to head into the final frame with a 56-44 lead.

The Blue and Gold's edge would extend to as high as 15 in the fourth before being cut all the way down to 69-67 with 1:43 left in regulation.

Pace answered the Saint Rose run with back-to-back jumpers from DelliSanti and Monteleone to bring the lead back up to six at the 1:06 mark.

The Blue and Gold forced four straight Saint Rose misses from the field across the final 47 seconds to clinch a 73-67 win.
