NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Pace University men's basketball team was defeated on the road at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon, 77-61. The loss puts the Setters at 15-12 overall this season, including a mark of 9-10 inside the NE10.
Inside the Numbers
*Sophomore
Austin Gilbertson (Etters, PA/Trinity) piloted the Pace effort, finishing with a stat line of 16 points, four rebounds and three steals.
*Classmate
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, NY/Long Island Lutheran) also chipped in double figures with 13 points, to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
*Pace's 11 steals in the game marked the sixth game that they have secured at least 10 takeaways,
*The Setters made 24 of their 54 shots from the field (44.4 percent), including a 3-for-16 clip (18.8 percent) from beyond the arc.
How it Happened
SCSU led for nearly the entirety of the contest after taking a 5-4 edge early on in the first half.
An 11-0 run would then provide the Owls with a 45-32 advantage at the 17:33 mark of the second half.
SCSU, which would extend its lead to as large as 25, would never trail by less than nine points over the final 18 minutes of the game.

The Setters will play one more game prior to beginning the NE10 Tournament on Tuesday night at Saint Rose. Pace and the Golden Knights will tip at 7:30 p.m.
