PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Following a 20-6 run to make it a two-point game with less than a minute remaining, the Pace University women's basketball team was edged in the final moments by Adelphi on Saturday, 78-72.

Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) sparked the Pace attack, tying a career-high with 24 points in the game. She also led the Setters' rebounding efforts with eight boards, to go along with four assists, a steal and a block.
*Pace's other top performers included sophomore
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) will 11 points, and freshman
Brianna Wong (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) with nine.
Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) dished out a team-high five assists, while adding eight points of her own.
*The Setters finished 7-of-15 from beyond the arc (46.7 percent), marking their second-highest percentage of the season. All in all, Pace made 27-of-55 from the field and 11-for-12 from the free-throw line. Â
*Pace's 17 assists in the contest marked its second-largest total of the season. Seven different Setters recorded an assist in the game, led by DelliSanti and Svoboda combining for nine. Â
*Pace outscored Adelphi, 37-32, in the second half, including a 20-6 stretch across seven-and-a-half minutes in the fourth quarter.
How it Happened
Pace would lead for most of the first quarter, led by early success shooting from beyond the arc. A deep ball by Wong and back-to-back threes from Svoboda pushed Pace's lead to a quarter-high six points with four minutes left in the period. Adelphi however would take momentum in the final minutes, going on a 15-5 run to take a 22-18 lead through 10 minutes.
After trading leads to open up the second quarter, the Panthers would begin to pull away over the final eight minutes of the half. A 22-11 run to close out the half put Pace in a hole to head into the half. Adelphi would pull ahead by double digits on four separate occasions in the quarter, ultimately ending the half ahead 46-35.
Following a third quarter that saw Pace only pull as close as seven, the Setters began to stage a comeback attempt in the fourth. Trailing by as much as 17, the Blue and Gold went on a 20-6 run over seven minutes.
Kelsey Quain's (Ossining, NY/Ossining) three-pointer with 44 seconds left pulled Pace to within two, but the comeback would come up just short as Adelphi went four-for-four on closing second free throws to pick up the win.
