Women's Basketball Defeats Bridgeport to Extend Win Streak to Six

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fueled by another stellar defensive performance, the Pace University women's basketball team earned a 74-51 win at Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon. The victory pushes the Setters' record to 8-1 this season, including a mark of 4-0 on the road.

Pace's hot start this winter marks the second time over the last three seasons that the Setters have opened up with an 8-1 stretch. The Blue and Gold's eight wins this season have come by an average of 19.4 points.

The Setters' triumph on Saturday was sparked by a 17-2 run in the second quarter. Pace's spurt led to an 11-point lead at the break.

The Blue and Gold added another 16-2 stretch in the fourth quarter, while allowing just eight points across the final 10 minutes of action.

For the fourth straight game, Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) served as Pace's leading scorer. The junior poured in 24 points, to go along with eight rebounds and a career-best five steals. Schetter has now eclipsed 20 points in four consecutive contests.

Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) and Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) were also big factors in the offense on Saturday. DelliSanti notched her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Hackett dropped in 13 points of her own, while dishing out a team-high five assists.

Pace's defense held the Purple Knights to 39.3 percent shooting from the field, including a 2-of-15 clip from long range.
