Pace Athletics Weekend Preview: All Four Winter Squads at Home

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – As we approach winter break on campus, all four of Pace University's winter squads will be in action at home this coming weekend (Dec. 14-15).

The Setters will play their last two non-conference games this weekend before beginning a 15-game stretch against NE10 opponents.
 
Senior forward Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) registered her 1,000th career point against No. 21 Adelphi on Tuesday night while posting her second straight double-double. DelliSanti leads the Setters with 19.1 points per game and ranks second in the NE10 in scoring.  
 
Pace's defense forced 22 Adelphi turnovers, which marks the Panthers' highest total this season. Lauren Schetter's (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) team-high four steals led the way for 11 takeaways for Pace. Schetter leads Pace with 20 steals on the year while DelliSanti and sophomore Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) each have tallied 13 thus far.
 
Post University (5-2): The Eagles have won five of their last six games. Junior forward Taylor Williams is averaging 19.3 points per game as the leading scorer for Post. As a whole, the Eagles average 73.4 points per game.
 
Dominican College (4-5): Senior forward Jasmine Gee is the leading scorer for Dominican, averaging 13.8 points per game. As a team, Dominican is averaging 65.8 points per game, 9.6 steals and 17.3 turnovers. 
 
*Sunday's game will be Star Wars Day inside the Goldstein Fitness Center. Fans who bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots or donate $5 (or more to Make a Wish) at the game will receive a pair of Star Wars themed socks courtesy of Hypnotic Hats (while supplies last).

The last time out, Pace competed at the USMMA Memorial Invitational in Kings Point, N.Y. on Nov. 23.
 
Women:
Senior Jana Ciric registered a pair of individual wins to go along with a relay triumph. She posted the day's top times in both the 100- and 200-free events, tallying respective marks of 53.55 and 1:56.74.

Ciric also teamed up with Leigha KosakowskiAnnabel Keppel-Palmer and Cristina Rosario Perez to finish first in the 400-free relay (3:43.30).

Kosakowski and Keppel-Palmer joined in with individual wins of their own. Kosakowski took home the 100-breast crown (1:12.46) while Keppel-Palmer raced to victory in the 400-IM (4:50.43).

Men:
Juniors Filip Turecky and Joshua Lozano served as Pace's top finishers the last time out. Turecky posted second-place performances in both the 100- (54.54) and 200-back (1:59.95) events.

Lozano followed with a fourth-place finish in the 200-fly (2:02.60), and a third-place effort in the 400-IM (4:23.22).

Sophomore Samuel Gibson also rattled off a fourth-place time in the 100-fly (54.80), while classmate Patrick Dwyer placed sixth in the three-meter diving event (263.2).
 
*Saturday's meet will be the Setters' annual Pace Goes Pink contest inside the Goldstein Fitness Center. Members of Pace's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be on hand to sell t-shirts, promote awareness and collect additional donations for The Breast Care Center at Northern Westchester Hospital.

After entering the week as one of just 12 undefeated teams left in the country, the Setters were ranked No. 23 in Tuesday's National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Top-25 Poll.
 
Senior Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, N.J./Southern Regional) has led the way during Pace's hot start, leading the squad in almost every offensive category. He was named the NE10's Player of the Week for a second time on Monday after averaging 30.5 points and 10.0 rebounds last week. He currently leads the NE10 in scoring this season (23.6), while ranking fourth in rebounding (9.2).
 
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) has also been stellar for the Setters. The junior guard leads the entire nation in total assists this season (88), in addition to averaging 15.2 points per contest (second on the team).

College of Staten Island (3-5): The Dolphins have won three of their last five contests and are averaging 69.9 points per game in 2019. Senior guard Adeola Latunji is the leading scorer for Staten Island averaging 21.9 points per game.

Also, fans who bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots or donate $5 (or more to Make a Wish) at the game will receive a pair of Star Wars themed socks courtesy of Hypnotic Hats (while supplies last).
