GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Fueled by a 17-4 run to open the second half, the Pace University men's basketball team picked up a 62-50 win over Queens College on Saturday. The victory puts the Setters' record at 2-0 in the early season.
For the second straight game, senior
Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, N.J./Southern Regional) led the way for the Blue and Gold. The captain registered his 17th career double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. He also chipped in an assist and a block.
Freshman
Christian Adams (New Haven, Conn./Hamden Hall) served as Pace's second-leading scorer with 13 points, while classmate
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) finished with 10 of his own.
Junior
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) dished out a team-high six assists to go along with six points.
Powell,
Ray Montilus (Union, N.J./Pope John XXII) and
Austin Gilbertson (Etters, Pa./Trinity) all nabbed a pair of steals in the contest as Pace totaled eight on the afternoon. Also on the defensive side of things was Adams tallying a game-high three blocks.
Pace's defense limited Queens to 37-percent shooting from the field, including a 7-for-29 clip (24.1 percent) from beyond the arc. The Setters also outrebounded the Knights by a 49-27 margin.

The Setters will make their home debut next weekend when Concordia College visits for a 3:30 p.m. start.
