PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Led by a dominant first half, the Pace University women's basketball team put together a 55-45 win over New Haven on Tuesday night. The victory puts the Setters at 6-1 this season, including a 2-0 record inside the Northeast-10 Conference.
Riding a three-game winning-streak, the Setters didn't skip a beat in the opening half. Pace tallied its second-highest scoring quarter in the opening frame, outscoring the visitors by a 26-9 margin.
The Setters added to their lead in the second quarter, taking an 18-point lead into the break. Pace's edge wouldn't shrink lower than nine the rest of the way,
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) sparked the Setters in the opening minutes, scoring 10 of Pace's first 13 points of the contest. The junior went on to finish with 21 points—17 of which came in the opening half.
Schetter, who also registered team-highs in both rebounds (10) and steals (3), knocked in both of her attempts from behind the arc, signifying the first two three-pointers of her career.
Senior
Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) joined her teammate in double-figures, putting in 15 points of her own. She also finished with four rebounds and a team-high four assists.
