PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing their home regular-season finale, the Pace University football team put together a 35-25 win over American International College on Saturday afternoon at Pace Stadium.
Â
Senior Day came with big performances from a handful of Setters in their final game wearing Blue and Gold. Running back
Jhalen Bien-Aime (Dorchester, Mass./Bridgton Academy) rushed for over 100 yards (152) for the second time this season and added a pair of touchdowns on the ground.
Â
The current all-time leader in rushing yards, Bien-Aime now holds a second all-time record following Saturday's game with 23 rushing touchdowns in his career. The previous record of 22 was held by Joe Wallace (1980-83).
Â
Senior wide receiver
Darius Jones (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) caught five receptions for 90 yards and three scores while
Isaiah Williams (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) picked off two AIC passes tallying his second and third interceptions of the season while recording his first two-interception game of his career.
Â
How it Happened
The Setters scored first when
Carlton Aiken (Gibbstown, N.J./Paulsboro) completed a 9-yard pass to Jones for their first of three touchdown-connections on the day.
Â
A one-yard run from the Yellow Jackets evened the score at seven with just under two minutes to go in the first quarter.
Â
However, three straight Pace touchdowns would prove to be the difference maker in the game. Bien-Aime gave the Setters a 14-7 lead in the second quarter when he snuck in on a 12-yard run. Jones then scored the third and fourth touchdowns of the day for the Blue and Gold on 21 and 12-yard passes from Aiken, respectively.
Â
A seven-yard AIC touchdown pass made it a two-possession game, as they trailed 28-13.
Â
Bien-Aime's second score of the game came on a 22-yard rush at the top of the fourth quarter, extending the Pace lead.
Â
The Yellow Jackets would answer with two more touchdowns, bringing the final score to within 10.
Â
On Defense
Dustin Huseinovic (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) led the Setters with 10 total tackles (nine solo). Four Setters,
Nasier Givens (Orange, N.J./Orange),
Mike-Lee Joseph (Bridgeport, Conn./Capital Prep Harbor School),
Kameron Adams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) and
Pierce Tuttle (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock), recorded tackles for losses. Joseph also recorded the only Pace sack of the afternoon.
