PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Beginning a stretch of three home games across five days, the Pace University field hockey team earned a 3-0 win over New Haven on Tuesday afternoon.
The Setters' leading scorer, Danielle Merante (Garrison, N.Y./Walter Panas), was up to her usual ways against the Chargers. The sophomore found the back of the net twice to up her total to 10 on the season.
Merante opened the game's scoring with an unassisted tally in the eighth minute. She then put it in the cage again in the third quarter, putting the Blue and Gold up 3-0.
Junior Mia Lennon (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) notched Pace's second goal off a penalty stroke in the 13th minute. She also joined Kim Schiera (Carmel, N.Y./Mahopac) in assisting Merante's tally in the second half.
Lennon added a defensive save as well at the 55:07 mark of the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) earned the shutout in net, registering five saves in a complete-game effort.
