SEAFORD, N.Y. – Despite being down 1-0 with less than 10 minutes left in regulation, the Pace University field hockey team earned a 2-1 triumph at Molloy College on Wednesday afternoon. The win marks the Setters' third in a row—two of which have now come by 2-1 margins.
Sophomore Danielle Merante (Garrison, N.Y./Walter Panas) sparked Pace's comeback victory, supplying both of the goals off penalty-corner situations.
She first found the back of the net off an assist from freshman Cienna Bosher (Blackwood, N.J./Highland) with 9:09 remaining in the game.
Merante followed up her equalizer with the game-winning tally with a little over a minute on the clock—this time off an assist by freshman Hannah Wyllie (Guildford, England/George Abbot School). Merante has now racked up four goals over Pace's last two contests.
Sophomore Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) picked up the win in net, posting three saves in a complete-game effort.
As a team, Pace put together a 17-9 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in penalty corners.
