Pace Volleyball Defeats Le Moyne in Five Sets

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - After coming back from a 2-1 deficit and forcing a fifth set on Saturday afternoon, the Pace University volleyball team pulled out a 3-2 triumph over Le Moyne College.

Following a decisive first-set victory (25-14), the Setters dropped games two and three, 25-19 and 25-22, respectively. However, Sandra Yang's (Bothell, Wash./Edmonds-Woodway) 19 kills followed by Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, Hawaii/Iolani) and Brielle Jones' (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) 13 kills apiece fueled a Setters comeback.

Pace squeaked out a win in a close fourth set. Trailing 23-20, the Blue and Gold strung together five unanswered points to seal the set victory (25-23). A back-and-forth final frame was ultimately put to an end when junior Christal Wong (Elk Grove, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks) tallied the final three points for Pace on kills.

Junior Nicole Pivetti (Modena, Italy/Liceo Wiligelmo) added a double-double on Saturday, recording a season-high 29 assists and 12 digs. Calimpong-Burke registered season bests in five categories, chalking up seven digs, 13 kills, two assists, 18 points and seven blocks.
