PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In a back-and-forth five-setter played inside the Goldstein Fitness Center, the Pace University volleyball team was on the wrong end of a 3-2 decision (19-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-19, 12-15) to Holy Family University on Thursday night.
The Setters showed off a versatile attack versus the Tigers, with five players registering at least five kills. Junior Mackenzie Byrne (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the way with a team-high 11 putaways. She also put forth a career-high eight blocks, including a pair in the solo variety.
Senior Natalia Quinones (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio La Piedad) aided the offense with nine kills while classmate Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, Hawaii/Iolani) recorded seven of her own.
Sophomore Nicole Pivetti (Modena, Italy/Liceo Wiligelmo) picked up her second double-double of the season, finishing the night with 20 assists and 11 digs. She also added a pair of service aces.
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Jamie Bittiger (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) reached double-figures in digs as well, tallying 20 and 10 respectively.
Samantha Nidini (Houston, Texas/Clearlake) supplemented the passing duties with 16 assists on the night.
