Pace Women's Basketball Knocks Off Southern New Hampshire, 90-79

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Led by a career-high 28 point effort from Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane), the Pace University women's basketball team picked up their second consecutive win on Wednesday, defeating Southern New Hampshire University, 90-79. With the victory, Pace moves to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Inside the Numbers
*The career night from Monteleone, fresh off the heels of her joining the Pace 1,000-point club, led four Blue and Gold shooters in double figures. Lauren Hackett (Commack, NY/St. Anthony's) had a career-night of her own with 18 points to post a new high for her freshman campaign.

*Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) and Brianna Wong (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) rounded out Pace's top scoring efforts with 16 and 15 points apiece.

*With a team-high 12 rebounds, DelliSanti posted her third double-double of the season. The junior guard led the Blue and Gold in boards for a second-straight game as she continues to lead the team with 7.9 per contest this season.

*Pace put forth their best shooting night of the season against the Penmen. The Setters shot over 47 percent from the field, including a 9-of-18 mark from three-point land.

Pace was also nearly perfect on free-throw attempts, making 17-of-18 from the charity stripe.

*The Setters capitalized on effective ball movement to generate scoring opportunities, collecting a season-high 18 assists. Wong and Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) led the team with four each, as eight different players recorded a helper in the win.

*Scoring their highest single-game point total since 2016, the Setters got off to a 1-0 start against the Northeast-10 Conference's Northeast Division.

How It Happened
Southern New Hampshire struggled to get sustained offense together all night long, only leading once in the entire contest. After falling behind 7-6 in the early going, the Setters ended the first quarter with a 21-14 scoring advantage to pull ahead 27-20. Pace's lead would grow to as much as 12 in the opening half and ultimately held a 44-34 advantage through the opening 20 minutes.

It was more of the same in the early going of the second half, with Pace expanding their lead to as high as 17 to close out the third quarter. The Setters' lead never fell below double figures in the third, taking a 70-53 advantage into the final frame. The Penmen did not go quietly in the fourth, outscoring Pace 26-20 to close out the game. While SNHU was able to chop the Setter advantage to seven with a little over a minute to play, a 6-2 run by Pace to the final buzzer sealed the deal as the Setters secured the 90-79 win.
