Pace Women's Basketball Drops Road Contest to Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Seeing their first road action of 2019, the Pace University women's basketball team was defeated at Merrimack College on Saturday by a 62-49 margin.

Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) continued her strong sophomore campaign for Pace, pouring in team-high 20 points. She also grabbed 10 boards, earning her third double-double over the last four games. Schetter is averaging 16.25 points and 9.5 rebounds during that span.

Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) matched Schetter's 10 rebounds, to go along with 13 points. DelliSanti has recorded a team-best four double-doubles this season.

As a team, the Setters tallied 10 steals and out-rebounded Merrimack by a 44-32 margin. Pace had four players record at least two steals in the contest.

Offensively, the Blue and Gold finished 20-of-59 from the field (33.9 percent), including a 2-for-20 effort from three-point range.

A strong first quarter from the Warriors set the tone on Saturday. Merrimack made their first four field goals of the game en route to a 20-6 stretch over the first seven minutes. The Warriors took a 21-8 lead into second quarter.

Merrimack's lead would grow to as large as 15 points in the second quarter before an 11-2 run from Pace cut the edge to just 30-24 with 1:55 left.

Six points would be as close as the Setters would get the rest of the way as an 8-0 stretch to end the third quarter provided Merrimack with a 14-point lead with 10 minutes to go.
