BRONX, N.Y. – Competing at one of the most historic venues in the country, the Pace University men's and women's cross country teams raced tough on Saturday afternoon at the Fordham Fiasco held at Van Cortlandt Park. Going head-to-head against a field that included regionally-ranked Division I teams, the men's squad placed ninth in the meet while the women came in 11
th.
Men's Results
For the second-straight week, it was freshman
Sean Engelfried (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) leading the Pace harriers. Engelfried, the reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week, clocked in a five-mile time of 28:04.92 to finish 41
st out of 112 runners.
Classmates
Alec Valle (Newburgh, NY/Blair Academy),
Killian McCole (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) and
Izzeldeen Farraj (Staten Island, NY/CSIHS/McCown) were the next trio of Setter finishers—all placing within 26 seconds of each other. Valle tallied a mark of 28:36.34 (58
th), while McCole came in at 28:44.88 (64
th) and Farraj clocked a time of 29:02.95 (72
nd).
Pace's final four all crossed the finish line within nine slots of each other.
Ryan Oakes (Scarsdale, NY/Eastchester) came in at 86
th (30:42.42),
Benjamin Dengler (South Kortright, NY/South Kortright Central) at 88
th (30:50.55),
Mitchell Lawrence (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) in 91
st (31:09.45), and
Ricky Harris (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) at 95
th (32:02.70).
Women's Results
A trio of rookies piloted the Pace attack, each finishing within the top-70 of a tough field. Freshman
Heaven Swan (Wingdale, NY/Dover) was the Setters' top runner, placing 60
th with a mark of 21:59.92, while
Rachael Daniels (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finishing 67
th (22:82.53) and
Jessica Uben (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) notched a 70
th-place effort (22:34.16).
Another freshman served as the Blue and Gold's next finisher as
Crystal Raines (Roosevelt, NJ/Hightstown) clocked in at 24:24.48 (94
th place). Juniors
Julia Presta (North Massapequa, NY/Farmingdale) and
Shea Cody (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Regional) came in right behind each other, posting respective marks of 25:12.48 (106
th) and 25:13.00 (107
th).
Freshman
Ashley De La Cruz (Yonkers, NY/Maria Regina) capped off the Blue and Gold's attack with a time of 26:44.48 (115
th place).
