PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Nearing a month into the new school year, Pace University Director of Athletics Mark Brown has announced the addition of
Denise Brown as the department's new Budget Manager. Brown began her Setters' tenure on August 22.
Brown, who has arrived in Pleasantville after three years working as the Athletic Operations and Business Manager at SUNY Maritime, will oversee Pace Athletics' financial operations, including the handling of the budget and managing the department's fiscal policies and procedures. She will also lead Pace's efforts in preparing annual NCAA/EADA financial reports while also serving as the department's liaison for Human Resources.
Brown begins her Pace tenure following her tenure at SUNY Maritime in which she was responsible for the administrative oversight of the department's financial operations, including managing the athletic budget and department policies and procedures, while also assisting in the day-to-day operating activities within the athletics department.
Brown also worked closely with the Maritime coaching staff to coordinate home athletics contests, while also contacting visiting colleges, universities and officials to help with their travel to Maritime. She was also responsible for the hiring, training, and scheduling of student-employees, while also handling the Club Sports within the Maritime Athletics Department.
Prior to Maritime, Brown served as the Director of Basketball Operations for the IYB Basketball/Blaze Basketball Club in Wayne, N.J. While there she was responsible for creating a student-athlete internship program in conjunction with St. Peter's University. She was also in charge of the budgeting, spending and scheduling of the programs 18 AAU teams, while also in control of the daily operations.
Brown is an active member of College Athletic Business Management Assoc. (CABMA), Women Leaders in College Sports (formally NACWAA), Sport & Recreation Law Assoc. (SRLA), NACDA, and Minority Opportunities Athletic Assoc. (MOAA). She was a 2015 NACWAA Grant recipient, graduate of the 2016 Division III NCAA Institute of Administrative Advancement and recently accepting into the 2018-2019 class for both the Women Leaders in College Sports and MOAA Professional Development Mentorship Programs as a mentee.
Brown graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia with a Bachelor's in Sport & Recreation Management in 2010, she later went on to receive her Master's Degree in Sport Studies from California University in California, Pennsylvania in 2012.
