PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Facing road competition for the first time in two weeks, the Pace University volleyball team earned a 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-8, 25-16) win at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday evening. The Setters have now won six matches in a row, and stand at 11-2 overall this season.
Pace, which also started 2016 with a record of 11-2, dropped the second set (26-24) on Saturday before dominating the final two frames, 25-8 and 25-16. Five of the Setters' six wins during this current winning streak have come in four sets.
Freshman
Sandra Yang (Bothell, WA/Edmonds-Woodway) served as the offensive leader for Pace against the Griffins, tallying a team-best 10 kills. She made just two errors en route to posting a hitting percentage of .421. Junior
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) was also extremely efficient in the attack, hitting a team-high .438 with seven kills.
Nidini was all over the floor for the Setters, adding 11 assists and eight digs to her stat line. Freshman
Katy Motz (Cedar Park, TX/Cedar Park) joined in on the passing front, dishing out a team-high 12 assists.
Junior libero
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) led all competitors with 18 digs, while freshman
Emily Cockell (Springfield, MO/Kickapoo) smacked a match-best four aces. Cockell is now ranked fifth in the NE10 in service aces per set (0.50).
As a team, Pace's 74 total digs were just one shy of their season-high which they recorded on Friday against Southern Connecticut State.

The Setters, who are 5-0 at home this season, return to the Goldstein Fitness Center on Tuesday night (Sept. 25) to face Adelphi University.
