Pace Volleyball Sweeps AIC in NE10 Opener

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing a Northeast-10 Conference match for the first time this season, the Pace University volleyball team earned a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-15, 25-19) over American International College on Tuesday inside the Goldstein Fitness Center. The sweep victory moves the Setters' record to 9-2 this fall.

In one of the Setters' most dominant wins of the season, it was once again a team effort leading the way. Pace had five different players post at least six kills, while Katy Motz (Cedar Park, TX/Cedar Park) and Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) combined to dish out 33 assists.

Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani) and Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) benefited from many of this passes, recording nine and 10 kills respectively. Calimpong-Burke also tallied 13 digs and four blocks, nearly missing out on her sixth double-double of the year.

Nidini, Sandra Yang (Bothell, WA/Edmonds-Woodway) and Mackenzie Byrne (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) rounded out the Pace attack—each registering six putaways. Byrne didn't make a single error across the three sets, finishing the night with a team-best .545 hitting percentage.

Defensively, the Setters piled up 12 blocks, while Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) picked up a team-high 14 digs. The Setters' 56 digs as a team signified their second most in a three-set match this season.
