No. 10 Women's Lacrosse Takes Down No. 18 New Haven, 15-10

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Unfazed by a 4-1 first-half deficit, the 10th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team defeated No. 18 New Haven on Tuesday night, 15-10. The victory, which was Pace's first-ever over the Chargers, moves the Setters to 7-3 overall this season (4-2 NE10).

Inside the Numbers
*Senior Abby Haimson (Montville, NJ/Montville) was Pace's top-scorer, finishing the night with a season-best four goals. Classmates Stephanie Chadnick (Brewster, NY/Brewster) and Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) followed with three tallies apiece.

*Junior Courtney Pabst (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) served as the Setters' final multi-goal scorer with two goals. Emily Ankabrandt (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster) and Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, NY/Islip) each recorded one goal apiece.

*The Blue and Gold put together a 29-17 advantage in shots on goal, and a 31-26 edge in ground balls.

*Senior keeper Jillian Oross (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) posted seven saves in net for Pace, picking up her seventh win of the season.

How it Happened
New Haven jumped out the early lead on Tuesday night, scoring four of the first five goals of the game. A tally from Jessica Mazliah provided the Chargers with a 4-1 edge with 13:12 left in the first half.

New Haven's three-goal lead would hold up for nearly seven more minutes until a goal from Ankabrandt at the 6:51 mark sparked a 7-0 run for Pace. A pair of tallies from Haimson and Gelderman closed the first half for the Setters, lifting Pace to a 6-4 lead at the break.

Pace's momentum continued after halftime as Pabst found the back of the net just 22 seconds into the second half. Chadnick followed with a goal at the 28:14 mark, giving Pace an 8-4 lead. The Chargers responded with a quick 3-2 spurt, but would never get closer than three goals. A 3-0 run courtesy of a pair of goals from Chadnick, along with a tally from Haimson, lifted the Setters to their largest edge of the game at 14-8 with 11:44 left in regulation.

Gelderman tallied Pace's final goal of the game at the 4:31 mark, which kept Pace ahead by six.
