PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior
Ashley Lew (New City, NY/Clarkstown High School North) provided all the offense for the Pace University softball team in a 3-0 win over Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon. The victory pushes the Setters to 11-4 in NE10 Divisional play this season, and 22-19 overall.
Lew, who finished 3-for-3 on the day, doubled in a run in the second before hammering a two-run home run in the fourth. It was Lew's third long ball of the season, and the seventh in her career.
Lindsey Ah Soon (Ewa Beach, HI/Kamehameha Kapalama) scored the game's first run after leading off the second with a single to left.
Briana Ryan (Wilmington, CA/Carson) came around to score on the Lew home run following a one-out single in the fourth.
Senior
Jordan Chillinsky (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad High School) reached in all three of her at-bats on the day, finishing 2-for-2 with a walk. She is now batting .330 this season with a .412 on-base percentage.
Sophomore
Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker), who leads the NE10 in ERA this season (1.24), was up to her usual ways in the circle.
After giving up two hits—and escaping a bases-loaded jam in the first inning— Bernet faced the minimum amount of batters the rest of the way. She finished with her 11
th win of the season, and fifth complete-game shutout.
