PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Led by another impressive outing from
Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker), the Pace University softball team notched a 4-1 win over Adelphi University on Tuesday afternoon. The victory improves the Blue and Gold to 8-7 inside the NE10 this season (10-15 overall).
Bernet, who improved to 5-4 this season in the circle, didn't allow an earned run in a complete-game effort against a tough Panthers lineup. In fact, Bernet hasn't had an earned run against her in 27.1 consecutive innings. She now sits with a 1.31 ERA, which ranks third in the NE10 this season.
Bernet was helped by a Pace offense that manufactured a pair of runs in both the first and fourth innings.
Stephanie Wang (Arcadia, CA/Arcadia),
Lindsey Ah Soon (Ewa Beach, HI/Kamehameha Kapalama) and
Meagan Wells (Foster City, CA/Hillsdale) each finished 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI apiece.
Wang drove in Pace's first run off a triple to right-center in the bottom of the first inning.
Larissa Labs (Carlsbad, CA/San Marcos High School) came around to score on the play after leading off the game with a double to left.
Freshman
Niyah Brown (Chino, CA/Chino Hills) made it three-straight hits to begin the contest, knocking in Wang with a single to center.
The Setters added two more runs in the fourth courtesy of RBI hits from Wells and Ah Soon. Wells brought
Jordan Chillinsky (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad High School) home with a double to left-center while Ah Soon hammered a triple to score Wells.
Adelphi's lone tally came in the third inning on a Krista King RBI fielder's choice. Lauren O'Neill scored on the play after reaching on a single, and advancing to third on a Pace error.
