How it Happened
A back-and-forth contest all night long, Pace and LIU Post battled to 10 ties and nine lead changes. The Setters held the early momentum, as goals from Pabst and Gelderman provided a 2-0 lead over the first eight minutes of the game. LIU Post answered back with a pair of their own to tie the game up at 2-2 at the 20:29 mark.
Pace and the Pioneers would go on to exchange goals for ties at 3-3 and 4-4. The Setters gained some breathing room at 6-4 and 7-5 but a mini 3-1 run from LIU Post sent the game into the break at 8-8. Pace had six different scorers over the first 30 minutes.
After exchanging a pair of goals once again to begin the second half, LIU Post rattled off three-straight goals to build their biggest lead of the game at 13-10 with a little over 18 minutes left in regulation. Pace answered right back with a three-spot of their own to tie the game back up just three minutes later.
Pace's 3-0 spurt extended into a 6-0 run, which ultimately proved to be the difference in the game. Consecutive tallies from Chadnick, Dickerson and Punzone lifted the Setters to a 17-14 lead with 5:15 left in the second half. Chadnick added one more goal with a little over two minutes left as Pace held off the Pioneers for the two-goal win.
