Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 19 Women's Lacrosse Falls at No. 6 Florida Tech, 15-10

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The 19th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team was defeated for the first time in 2018 on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 15-10 contest at No. 6 Florida Tech. Pace falls to 2-1 on the season with the loss.

Inside the Numbers
*Stephanie Chadnick (Brewster, NY/Brewster) led the Blue and Gold offense with a four-point day, all coming courtesy of first-half goals. The senior midfielder now leads Pace in both goals (11) and points (13) this season.

*Junior Courtney Pabst (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) added three goals for the Pace attack.

*Senior Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) had a two-goal day while leading the Setters with eight draw controls.

*Alexa Punzone (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North) led the Setters with four groundballs. The sophomore defender was also tied with Chadnick and Emily Ankabrandt (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) with a team-leading three caused turnovers.

*Senior netminder Jillian Oross (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) made 10 saves in 60 minutes of work in net. Oross held the Panthers to 15 goals, tied for their lowest total of the season.

How it Happened
After trading goals over the opening four minutes, the Setters claimed a 2-1 advantage eight and a half minutes into the game off of Pabst's first goal of the day. The Panthers took the lead off four consecutive goals to go ahead 5-2. Chadnick responded to the Florida Tech run by stringing together four unassisted goals over the final eight and a half minutes of the half. Her final tally, coming with 50 seconds left on the clock, put the Setters ahead 6-5 at halftime.

The Panthers scored first to open up the second, but Pabst put Pace back on top with 17:27 remaining, 7-6. Florida Tech strung together three consecutive goals in two minutes to go ahead 9-7, a lead they didn't surrender for the remainder of the contest. The Panthers ended the game outscoring Pace 6-3 over the final 17 minutes to earn the 15-10 victory.

It's a short rest for the Setters who will be back in action in the Sunshine State tomorrow afternoon. Pace squares off with Embry-Riddle University at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
