PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – While allowing just one earned run over 14 innings, the Pace University softball team earned a doubleheader split against Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon. The Setters rebounded from a 2-1 loss in Game One with a 5-1 triumph in the finale.
Inside the Numbers
*Pace was given solid pitching efforts from both starters,
Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W Baker) and
Jaclyn Flores (Escondido, CA/San Pasqual High School). Each hurler recorded complete-game efforts, totaling 10 strikeouts between the two of them. Bernet took a tough loss in the first contest after allowing just a single earned run.
*As has been the case this season, Pace's offense was piloted once again by
Larissa Labs (Carlsbad, CA/San Marcos High School). Labs tallied Pace's lone hit in the first game while going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in the nightcap. She is now batting a team-best .382.
*After going 0-for-2 with a walk in Game One, junior
Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) was a red-hot 3-for-3 with an RBI in the Setters' win.
*
Brianna Parks (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) and
Stephanie Wang (Arcadia, CA/Arcadia) each provided a spark in Game Two, combining to go 4-for-8 with an RBI and a run scored.
*After the lone knock in the first game, Pace rattled off a season-high 13 hits in contest two. Four Setters finished with multiple hits.
