No. 12 Women's Lacrosse Toppled at No. 4 Le Moyne, 13-6

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Facing one of their toughest conference challenges of the season, the No. 12 Pace University women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 4 Le Moyne College on Friday afternoon, 13-6. With the loss, the Setters fall to 5-2 on the season while their record against the Northeast 10 Conference drops to 2-1.

Inside the Numbers
*Held to their lowest goal total of the season, the Setters explosive attack was held at bay by the Le Moyne defense. Junior Courtney Pabst (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) led the Blue and Gold offense with a three point day, accounting for two goals and an assist. She has now scored multiple goals in six straight contests.

*Senior Angela Kelly (Garnerville, NY/North Rockland) also added two goals for the Setters. Classmates Stephanie Chadnick (Brewster, NY/Brewster) and Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) rounded out Pace's scoring with a tally each.

*Gelderman led Pace in both draw controls and groundballs with six each. The senior was also responsible for a team-high two caused turnovers.

*Jillian Oross (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) played a full 60 minutes in net, logging nine saves against the Dolphins' attack.

*The Setters posted season lows in caused turnovers (five), draw controls (seven), and shots (20). The 32 shots logged by Le Moyne were the most by a Pace opponent this season.

How it Happened
The Dolphins took charge of the contest early, scoring four unanswered goals in the opening six and a half minutes. Pabst would put Pace on the board with 18:38 left in the half, but Le Moyne responded with three more scores to move their lead to 7-1 at the 9:30 mark.

Gelderman scored her team-leading 24th tally of the season a little over a minute later, while Pabst would add her second of the day just 35 seconds after Gelderman to pull Pace closer, 7-3. Le Moyne would strike last, scoring twice in the closing five minutes to take a 9-3 advantage into the half.

The Dolphins began the second half with four straight goals in the first 10 minutes to effectively distance themselves from the Setters. Pace would score the last three goals, with Chadnick finding the net with 16:26 remaining and Kelly connecting twice in the final four minutes, but the deficit was too big to overcome as Le Moyne earned the 13-6 victory.
