Pace Men's Basketball Falls on the Road to Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Pace University men's basketball team dropped a road contest at Adelphi University, 85-67, on Saturday afternoon.

Inside the Numbers
*Freshman Austin Gilbertson (Etters, PA/Trinity) put together one of his best offensive games of the season, pouring in game-high 21 points.

*Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, NY/Long Island Lutheran) and Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, NJ/Southern Regional) also reached double figures for the Setters, each putting in 15 points.

*On the rebounding front, freshman Kevin Smith (New Haven, CT/South Kent) led the way with eight boards while Jacobs and Greg Poleon (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln / Coffeyville CC) each had seven. Smith also led the Blue and Gold with three steals.

*As a team, Pace shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the floor and 31.3 percent from three-point range (5-of-16). The Setters made 14 of their 20 attempts from the free-throw line (70 percent).

*Pace outscored Adelphi in the second half by a 45-41 margin.

*Adelphi finished the game with a 53.4 percent field-goal percentage (31-of-58), including a 13-of-35 clip from beyond the arc.

How it Happened
A 19-6 stretch to begin the game and a separate 15-3 run later in the first half set the tone for a 22-point halftime lead for Adelphi. Pace shot just 18.5 percent from the field in the first half.

The Panthers' lead extended to as high as 30 points in the second half, and would never get lower than the final margin of 18.
