Pace Women's Basketball Wins at Nyack, 61-55

NYACK, N.Y. – Fueled by a stifling defensive effort, the Pace University women's basketball team registered a 61-55 win at Nyack College on Tuesday night.

The Setters held Nyack to just 15 made field goals on the night, forcing the Warriors to shoot 27.8 percent from the floor. Pace also forced 17 turnovers in the game, while tallying five steals and five blocks.

On the offensive side, the Blue and Gold were led by the duo of Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) and Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane). Schetter shot 6-of-8 from the floor for a team-high 16 points, while Monteleone finished the night 13 points.

Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) and Kristina Olikhver (Moscow, Russia/Saint Andrew's) each put in eight points, while Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) put in six of her own to go along with a team-high seven rebounds.

The Setters put together their best shooting performance from the free-throw line this season, knocking in 11 of their 12 attempts.

Pace gained its separation from Nyack courtesy of a 26-8 run across the final 5:51 of the second quarter and into the third quarter. A layup from DelliSanti capped of the stretch, giving the Setters a 40-28 lead with 3:38 left in the third quarter.

The Blue and Gold would go on to extend their advantage to as high as 13 points in the fourth following a Schetter jumper with 4:53 left in regulation.
