Pace Women's Basketball Dismisses AIC, 76-70

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Fueled by 26 points from senior Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane), the Pace University women's basketball team recorded a 76-70 win over AIC on Wednesday night inside the Goldstein Fitness Center. The victory improves the Setters' record in the NE10 this season to 2-1 (3-4 overall).

In just her second game of action this season, Monteleone finished the night just one point shy of her career-best. The sharpshooter knocked in eight of her 15 attempts from the field, including four three-pointers. She also made all six of her free throws in the contest.

Speaking of free throws, the Setters combined to go a season-best 20-of-26 from the charity stripe. Pace also recorded a season-high output from long range, putting in 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) and Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) also put together stellar statlines, combining to tally 32 points and 15 rebounds. Schetter, who is now averaging 20.0 points and 6.7 boards over her last three games, also added three steals.

Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) served as the Setters' top distributor, dishing out a team-high five assists. She also registered nine points and five rebounds.

Sitting with a two-point lead at the break, back-to-back three-pointers from Monteleone set the tone for Pace in the second half. The Setters would then rattle off a 7-0 stretch mid-way through the third quarter to stretch their lead up to eight.

Up by five after three quarters, Pace put the game on ice in the fourth thanks to a 13-for-14 effort from the free-throw line. Leading by one with two minutes left, the Setters knocked in eight consecutive attempts from the charity stripe to maintain their advantage and eventually pull out the win.
