PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's basketball team was defeated by Post University on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 71-67.
Despite outscoring the Eagles, 34-25, in the second half, a 13-point deficit at the half proved to be too much for the Setters to battle back from.
A 17-6 run from the Blue and Gold cut Post's lead to just 65-64 with less than four minutes left in the game. The Eagles followed with a 6-3 stretch of their own to close game, including a 4-for-4 effort from the free-throw line. In fact, Post made 17 of its 19 attempts from the charity stripe during the game.
The Setters' offense was led by a pair of 20-point outputs from
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) and
Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack). Schetter notched a team-best 21 points, while DelliSanti's 20-point effort marked a season-high. DelliSanti also added 11 boards for her first double-double of the year.
Freshman
Brianna Wong (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) rounded out the majority of Pace's attack with 12 points. She also chipped in four steals, four rebounds and three assists.
