Women's Basketball Defeats Concordia in Home Opener, 79-45

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Seeing their first home action of the new season, the Pace University women's basketball team put together a 79-45 win over Concordia College on Saturday afternoon.

The Setters hopped out to a 5-0 advantage in the contest, and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire for their first triumph of 2018-19. Pace was especially dominant in the first half, shooting a near-50 percent from the field while tallying seven steals and forcing 14 Concordia turnovers.

The Blue and Gold led, 46-22, at halftime before posting their largest lead of 34 points with 59 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Sophomore Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School), who was one of five Setters in double figures, led a balanced Pace offense with 16 points and eight rebounds. Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) also hauled in eight boards, to go along with 12 points and two steals.

Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining), Iliana Krasniqi (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) and Lauren Hackett (Commack, NY/St. Anthony's) rounded the Blue and Gold attack as they totaled 35 points between the three of them.

Schetter also piloted Pace's defensive efforts with three blocks and a steal. As a team, Pace racked up eight takeaways in the game—seven of which came in the first half.
