PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University men's basketball team erased an 11-point first-half deficit to earn a win on Saturday evening, defeating Felician University 70-56. With the win, Pace moves back to .500 on the year with a record of 2-2.
Four different players on the Blue and Gold reached double figures offensively to generate the Pace attack.
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, NY/Long Island Lutheran) was the Setters' leading scorer on the day, putting in 17 points.
Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, NJ/Southern Regional) added 16 points on a 6-for-13 shooting game, while
Greg Poleon (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln / Coffeyville CC) shot an impressive 64 percent from the field en route to a 15-point outing.
Tyrone Cohen, Jr. (Woodside, NY/Christ the King / Holy Cross University / Broward College) rounded out the top offensive performers with a season-high 10 points.
All nine Setters that saw action on Saturday recorded a rebound as Pace won the battle of the boards against Felician, 43-35. Poleon had a team-high nine boards, including four on the offensive end. Poleon also added three blocks in the contest, while Jacobs accounted for three of Pace's seven steals.
The Golden Falcons built a 19-8 lead in the opening nine minutes of the game. Despite facing the early deficit, the Setters quickly clawed back with a 16-1 run in the ensuing seven minutes to pull ahead 24-20. The Setters would never look back from that point forward, entering halftime ahead 36-33.
The Blue and Gold came out in the second half firing, scoring 14 unanswered points in the first seven minutes. Protecting a double-digit lead, Pace was able to hold off Felician through the final 13 minutes to earn the 70-56 win.
