OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Hitting the road for the final time this regular season, the Pace University volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win (27-25, 25-20, 25-21) at NYIT on Wednesday night. The Setters' 10
th sweep of the year improves their overall record to 20-7 this season.
Pace's offense was led by the duo of
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani) and
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina), who combined for 32 of the squad's 50 total kills. They also totaled 30 digs in the match—a season-best 20 of which were picked up by Fontanet. Calimpong-Burke and Fontanet have now combined for 19 double-doubles this fall.
Junior
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) also posted a double-double with 33 assists and 14 digs across the three sets. The Texas native has now racked up 68 assists and 20 digs over the past two matches (six sets). Classmate
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) chipped in a solid stat line as well, tallying 14 digs, seven assists and three aces.
As a team, the Blue and Gold finished the night with 75 digs and 8.5 total blocks. Pace's block total represented a season-best across three sets this season, while the 75 digs is the second-highest total for the Setters in 2018.
