MANCHESTER, N.H. – In the first of two road matches within a 19-hour span, the Pace University volleyball team was defeated by Saint Anselm College on Friday night by a 3-0 margin (16-25, 20-25, 20-25). The loss moves the Setters' overall record to 18-7, which includes a mark of 7-4 inside the Northeast-10 Conference.
Senior
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) led the Blue and Gold offense, picking up her 11th double-double of the season. Fontanet finished the night with team-highs in kills (10), digs (15), hitting percentage (.258), and service aces (2).
Junior
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani) also put forth a strong statline, registering nine putaways, seven digs and three blocks. Classmate
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) and freshman
Katy Motz (Cedar Park, TX/Cedar Park) handled the passing duties for Pace, posting 14 and 11 assists respectively. Nidini also chipped in six kills and six digs.
In addition to Calimpong-Burke, Nidini and
Hildur Davidsdottir (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland/) also tallied solo blocks in the contest.
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) helped on the defensive front with 11 digs.
